Wicked Illustrations by Joe Murtagh
Joe Murtagh is an imaginative artist living in Liverpool, whose high-energy work is a contemporary combination of the digital and the traditional. Joe’s art education was traditional enough, studying Art & Design on a two year BTEC course, then a Fine Art Degree, where he finally focused on being a figurative sculptor, working with stone and metal. Joe later moved into teaching art, in schools and colleges, before becoming a web designer, graphic designer, photo retoucher and digital artist. He uses strong colour to enhance a subject, and likes to experiment with digital software to produce standout images. His aim is to produce work he hasn’t seen before, purposefully avoiding mimicking his contemporaries. He is inspired and influenced by art history, movies, comic books, graffiti, music….questioning everything modern life has to offer, good and bad. “Holly Wood” Icons
I could describe the art of Jon Fox as a perfect mix between abstractionism and figurativism, although I think there’s more behind its aesthetic. It’s about a a personal journey inside the self, it’s almost like we could almost make holograms of our feelings, emotions and thoughts.
SAM GREEN
Sam’s uniqueness lies in his ability to create images that carry astonishing energy. Unleashing the unruly, unconscious urges through the use of primitivism and gripping us to observe in awe the abstract detail reminiscent to the tranquillity of water – the drawings are simultaneously exciting and calming. Sam’s love for experimentation means he is constantly finding original ways to depict his subjects, never failing to amaze and always assuring a fresh perspective.
