“The series of images was inspired by a picture of a hatching chick. I tought why not making a series showing the hatching of a manufactured product. As if it was not being manufactured but born. That would look familiar and peculiar at the same time. Thats why i came up with the hatching of the car. So i first had to make a latex mold from a model car. Then i poured a thin layer of gypsum into the mold to create the shell. This was followed by the most exhausting part of the project. I smashed the gypsum shell onto the model car several dozens of time before i got the images i wanted. that was quite a challenge since one had to tidy up after every image and create a new shell. but i think the final results were reward enough.” FABIAN OEFNER - www.fabianoefner.com
